Critical Documents Checklist

Losing documents in a disaster — fire, flood, forced evacuation — creates a months-long bureaucratic crisis on top of the emergency itself. Preparing and protecting copies before it happens takes one afternoon and prevents enormous suffering.

The Master Checklist

Identity Documents

  • Passport (all family members)
  • National ID card or driver's licence
  • Birth certificates (all family members)
  • Marriage certificate
  • Divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Citizenship or naturalisation documents

  • Social security / national insurance card

Financial Documents
